The most common worry when trading Hot Wheels is not the condition of the car. It is the person on the other side. In a Facebook group you usually cannot check that at all. Here you can – partly. This page says exactly how far that goes, and where it stops.
What we can confirm
- The account is tied to a working email address. There is no password here: an account only comes into being when someone clicks a link we sent. A throwaway account costs a working inbox.
- How long someone has been here. Shown as the month they joined, on every offer.
- How many cars they have entered. A collection is work. It is a poor disguise.
- How many photos they contributed. Only approved photos count – every one is looked at by a human before it goes live.
- Completed trades and ratings. A trade only counts when both sides confirm it, and only a confirmed trade can be rated – once per side. Nobody can award themselves a clean record.
What we cannot confirm – and do not claim to
- We do not know whether someone is honest. We show what is on record and leave the judgement to you.
- We never see the money. There is no payment, no escrow and no buyer protection here. Whatever you agree, you agree directly with each other.
- We do not check the car. Condition, authenticity and whether a card was re-glued: only the photos and your own eyes can tell you that.
- We publish no values and no price advice – not here and nowhere else on this site.
Before you agree
- Look at the line under the offer: joined when, how many cars, how many photos, how many trades.
- Open the profile. A collection built over months looks different from an account made yesterday.
- Ask for a photo of the actual car – not a catalogue image. Ask for today’s date on a slip of paper next to it. That one request ends most attempts.
- Ask about the things photos hide: a re-glued blister, a crease on the back, a swapped car.
- Keep the conversation here. A chat that moves off-site immediately is a warning sign, not a convenience.
Warning signs
- Pressure. “Someone else is interested, decide now.”
- Only catalogue pictures, or photos that turn up elsewhere on the internet.
- A brand-new account with an expensive offer.
- Being asked to send money as a gift or to friends and family. That removes every protection your payment provider gives you.
- A price far below everything comparable. There is a reason, and it is rarely a nice one.
During and after
- Agree on tracked shipping and keep the receipt.
- Photograph the car before you pack it.
- Confirm the trade here afterwards. That is what makes it count for both of you – and only then can you rate each other.
- Something wrong? Every offer and every profile has a report button, and you can block anyone. Reports are read by a person.
The marketplace is in the members area. Taking part costs nothing.
